  1. Jesse, in 1994, returning from Carlsbad on business to my hotel, I picked up Bill Evans in a parking lot along the PCH above Torrey Pines. He and his mechanic were in a 1910 Whitfield that had broken down. He asked if I could take him to a phone, then to his “garage” when I told him I had the day free. We had a great conversation on the way and when we got to the garage, he told me he wanted to put me up in his hotel, The Bahia. He gave me a key to the garage and said when I got done looking around, to lock up and leave the key at the front desk. If you’ve been there, you know what an amazing place it is. So was the hotel. The next day, I walked over to the America’s Cup docks and ended up getting a tour of the Mighty Mary by their crew. Bill’s collection is IMHO, the best private one I’ve been in although Bob Bahre’s in Maine runs a close second.

    1. that is a great experience! I haven't had the opportunity to get a tour of the garage, but I did find it. Not that it's hidden. Looks great even from the outside
