Airline pilot news

American Airlines, and United Airlines, both contract to Republic Airlines for pilots, who are contracted in employment, and are union, Teamsters 357 of Chicago.

Chicago, because that is where about 350 pilots live, and the formentioned airlines have their biggest hub.

The pilots' Local 357 and Republic management have been trying to negotiate a new contract since the previous one became amendable in 2007.

At the same time, Southwest Airlines has been in talks with its ramp agents for around five years and with its flight attendants for two years.

Republic has decided to make an unusually high-profile event of the presentation of its last and best contract offer to pilots on Thursday in Washington, D.C.
